A Wonderful Visit

On Sunday, we were visited by two new friends, Ian and Sarah, from New Hampshire.  We met them the day Harry came into our lives.  In fact, if not for Sarah sitting down and talking to Mrs at the breeders' puppy party we may well not have Harry right now.  I was beginning to feel overwhelmed and still heavily grieving Logan.  Ready to leave and forget the whole thing.  But something about Sarah and Mrs talking helped bring me back down to Earth and snap out of it.  Since then, we have been in touch via Facebook (mainly), and Mrs was asked to do a pastel portrait of their beautiful pointer for Christmas.

We had planned this visit for the weekend before, but a heavy rainfall pushed the plan forward one week.  We had glorious, sunny skies and cool, dry air.  Perfect, really.  They are a lovely couple, about 10 or 12 years younger than we are which really matters not.  It's nice to have a bit of youth around!  Ian was thoughtful enough to bring some excellent specialty beers along for me, appropriately packaged in a running shoes box.  Very much appreciated!

They have a pretty 2 year old pointer named Charlie.  She is a sweetheart.  They also just added a pointer puppy to their little family.  A cute black and white they've called Marco.  After a little while of puppy introductions and chatting, we took the pointers (Bella stayed home) to the wildlife management area near Frost Bottom for a romp.

Harry and Charlie had a blast racing around smelling everything birdie and probably everything else.  Poor Marco's little legs would not allow him to keep up with the fast kids, but he did try now and then.  One day he'll be outracing all of them.

After the walk we headed back to FBF where Mrs had prepared a veggie lasagna.  The dogs played in  the back yard while we spent time on the deck and waited for the lasagna to cook.  Somehow I didn't take any pictures of Bella racing around the yard.

After lasagna, we had a treat of brownies and strawberries with our coffee and continued conversation and gushing over the pups.  We're looking forward to future get-togethers.  Harry has been sleeping almost non-stop since.
