Thanksgiving Day.
The
We Gather Together 5k run/walk to benefit the Upper Cape food pantries was held in Sandwich, MA. It appears it was a great success with trucks full of groceries. No solid figures yet, but it sounds as though it will equal last year's record turnout.

Mrs and I went to register for the run on Wednesday evening. We arrived at 4:00, dropped off our numerous bags of groceries then headed inside to register. It was smooth sailing and we were all set in a few minutes. We also registered our friend and neighbor which was her first race in quite some time.

Volunteers loading the FedEx trucks bound for the pantries.
The three of us left
FBF a little after 7:00 planning on arriving some time around 7:30. Start was scheduled for 8:00. We met up with some friends briefly, hit the
porta-potty line, then lined up on Rt 130.

The sizable crowd crammed on to Rt 130. The announcer gave us some last minute instructions including a slight detour due to some ongoing construction at Sandwich Town Hall. The weather was nearly perfect for a run. Damp and cool. Unfortunately the time clock being used for the event had "fried" according to the announcer so there was no real official timing done.

Runners at the finish. The announcer was giving out the times as best as possible based on a stop watch. My watch and his time were very close.

I walked back down the last leg of the route to meet up with Mrs and run in to the finish with her.

12
th race under my belt. A great time.

What a great idea for an entry fee. Food banks are really getting hit hard with the recession.
Way to go Frost Bottom Team.
There you go, running around in your shorts again.
Nice race! The weather in Massachusetts and Maryland appears to be about the same - damp and dreary.
Thanks Patti! ;) It's one of my favorite events.
Brian - I briefly saw the sun last weekend on my way home from NY.... Everything here is green and moldy. Vicious winds today with nastier winds later. Sun is trying to peak through as I type this...
