Asparagus - Year 3

Despite severe neglect last year, the asparagus appears to have survived. This is the third growing season for them (original blog here), and I believe I can start harvesting some next year. I spent a bit of time removing weeds from the rows and then mulched them in with some straw.

I peaked below the surface near last years stalks and found new growth coming from many of the crowns. The picture above is from a plant that appears to get a lot of sun and warmth. It was difficult to resist not picking this one.
