The blog title, in part, refers to the habitat type we live in as I understand it (well, the house is plopped in the middle of it anyway). We frequently experience colder air temperatures and have to be careful of early and late frosts that threaten tender plants in the garden. I've lived here for 30 years (Holy $#@*!!!) and I will say that the last 8 to 10 seem warmer and the frost threat seems less and less. My Mom would always say that we were not safe from frost until after Memorial Day and were in danger of frost after Labor Day. I generally still go by that rule, but I'm not as worried about it.

We're a very small "farm". We have a few animals to keep us in eggs and entertained. The gardens are a good start to what I hope will eventually lead to enough frozen and canned produce to help us through the winter. A hobby to this point, but I hope to expand on the growing and production.

So, stay tuned. I expect to blog about gardening, pets, geocaching, camping, hiking, running and travel, or whatever the day brings. As time goes on there will be several pages of 'older posts' accessible from a link at the bottom of the page.
