After the lesson we spent some time letting the 'student' enjoy his company and grazing him on the grass. Later we moved the chickens into the garden so they could get some time scratching and eating some grasses bugs, and other critters.
To our surprise our beef from Vermont Natural Beef showed up. We had an idea it might be coming, but didn't know exactly when. Luckily we were home.
It was so great to see the Stannards again and get our beef. We ended up with 300 pounds, half of which will be going to my father-in-law and his wife. Below is a tiny sample of the great beef we received. I think next year we'll be getting a whole side for ourselves.
The freezer is almost full!

Is it labeled by weight too?? That is fantastic. I HAVE to roll my quarters as I want to be on that next year.

The reason the price went up to $3.40 something per pound was the slaughterhouse went up .25 per pound. He may be looking for a new slaughterhouse. Anyway, save your pennies and get in on it if you can. Figure for about 3oo pounds!
